We went for printing on Friday noon. The laboratories which were open for printing were filled up
with students.
The best thing to happen for this week was that we had finished preparing our presentation slides
and had emailed a copy to Mr. Hasnain for comments.
Week 8, Trimester 2 2003/2004
Our presentation will be on Friday. Along the way, we worked out on familiarizing ourselves with
the presentation slides, did some rehearsal and tackle some potential questions which might be
asked by the panels. It was actually fun predicting what the panels would ask. We felt the chills of
not able to answer the questions and at certain point, the idea of the panels were not exposed to
the concept of XML web services also struck our mind. Somehow, our presentation was vital. We
needed to make the panels understood our concept and why we use XML web services in our
FYP.
We also had this uneasy feeling that our FYP was a deviated from the original title. XML web
services were a new way of communication between two computers. Our main title for the FYP
suggested that we needed to build an interactive system in a wireless environment.
Then again, we braved ourselves and pushed forward. Turning back was not an option then.
Finally the presentation turned out to be excellent. Mr. Hasnain was glad that we had found a FYP
topic which was worthy of a Masters Degree or Ph.D research. He provided us with a few
technical papers and asked us to go through them during the trimester break. He suggested us to
write a technical paper and submitted it to a conference in Jordan.
Week 9, Trimester 2 2003/2004
Final exam week! We did nothing related to FYP until Saturday of this week. Tie moved my
desktop computer to the CNC lab and had it configured to be a server. We agreed to continue
reading up on developing applications using Microsoft .NET. We took two weeks off for the
trimester break.
During the 2nd Trimester Break 2003/2004
We did some readings. During the final week of the trimester break, we drafted out the technical
paper that Mr. Hasnain suggested to us. We named it XML Web Services in Telemedicine A
Step Closer to Globalization in a New Era. A few days later, Mr. Hasnain edited it and the final
title for the paper was, XML Web Services in Telemedicine A Step Closer To Globalization of
Health Informatics (HI)
Tie met up with Mr. Hasnain during that last week of the holidays as well. Tie was informed that he
would like to propose our FYP to be displayed in the MMU Open Day on 10th January 2004. He
needed us to prepare some posters and had a partially working system for the demo.
