Final Year Project (FYP) has always been every undergraduates final and most anticipated
project. Much energy, concentration and devotion has been poured into making the FYP the best
project ever for one individual. We are no different.
The title we proposed to Mr. Hasnain Zafar Baloch in early August 2003. He went through them
and corrected our scope. After that, the rest as we will say is history. We got the proposed title for
the FYP approved and due to some technical problems, we started a week later than our peers.
However, with quick works and thinking, we managed to narrow the gap and eventually going side
by side with them in terms of progress.
We go a distance to make this FYP of ours fun. First thing first, Mr. Hasnain has reserved a place
for us in the Centre of Network Computing (CNC) laboratory for us to work at. This settles all those
hardware and facility problems which we might face in the future. To make things sweeter, Mr.
Hasnain also let us handles a few PDAs. It is quite a pleasure to just touch those devices since
only CNC has such devices for the students to play with.
During one discussion, the word pillow struck our mind and while going through the literature
reviews; we found out that Microsoft likes to codenamed their products. We adopted the idea.
Since our FYP title is rather long, we simply codenamed the project as pee-lo (pronounce pillow).
It is short and sweet.
In short, we make this FYP as fun and follow the development life cycle as commercially as
possible. Its motivating when we do things as if we are going to sale it in the end.
The challenges that we go through were precious. The second phase of our FYP began with great
speed in order to meet a milestone on 10th January 2004 for the MMU Open Day. Then, we
slowed down due to lack of sample data. However, the speed picked up soon after and we meet
our final milestone with satisfaction in our hearts.
