Based on Figure 2, at the lowest level, there will be a collection of servers namely mobile server for
cell phone accessibility, web server for both web access and PDA web access, database server for
storing all the data and finally a farm of application servers for processing the business rules and
logics.
On top of the servers are the access points which are rather independent of the programming
paradigm.  We list it out to imply that information can be transmitted in two ways: either wireless or
conventional ‘wired’ connection.
On the uppermost layer will be the end users of which we broadly categorized it into a few types
based on devices.  They are as follow:
1.
Web Based Access
a.
This sort of access uses web browsers and it is independent of OS the computer
runs on.
b.
Within this access, there is another subject known as Application Access for
devices running Windows OS.  Application Access has better graphic interface
designs and functionality compared to Web Based Access.
2.
PDA Web Based Access
a.
This access is used for PDA web browsers only and it is complaint to any sort of
PDA.
b.
Pocket PC Application is a subset of this set which gives more user functionality to
access the system.
3.
WAP Based Access
a.
Primarily aimed for patient use, WAP Based Access will serve as ‘sending alerts’
to patients.
b.
It can also be used to remind offsite physicians about their appointments.
