To build a prototype, we are looking into these technologies to help us speed you the development process:

1. Microsoft .NET Framework
   • It is a programming model to build XML Web Services and applications on fat (rich) clients such as desktop computers, servers, and laptops.
   
2. Microsoft .NET Compact Framework
   • This is a programming model for building applications as well as XML web services on thin and/or smart clients such as cell phones, and mobile devices.
   • It is a subset of the Microsoft .NET Framework
   
3. Extensible Markup Language (XML)
   • Currently at XML version 1.0, this subset of SGML is widely used to describe data. In short, it brings meaning to data programmatically for both human to understand and computers to comprehend.
   
4. XML Web Services
   • XML Web services are the fundamental building blocks in the move to distributed computing on the Internet.
   • Open standards and the focus on communication and collaboration among people and applications have created an environment where XML Web services are becoming the platform for application integration.
