This is a programming model for building applications as well as
XML web services on
thin and/or smart clients such as cell phones, and mobile devices.
It is a subset of the Microsoft .NET Framework
Specific part of the Microsoft .NET Framework that comes into place will be:
Extensible Markup Language (XML)
Currently at XML version 1.0, this subset of SGML is widely used
to describe data. In
short, it brings meaning to data programmatically for both human
to understand and
computers to comprehend.
XML Web Services
XML Web services are the fundamental building blocks in the move
to distributed
computing on the Internet.
Open standards and the focus on communication and collaboration among people and
applications have created an environment where XML Web services are becoming the
platform for application integration.
